How to use the AutoChords tab creator

        
The tab creator is a free and interactive tool offered by AutoChords, designed for guitarists of all levels. Click on the interactive fretboard to build your tabs note by note, add playing techniques like hammer-on, pull-off or bend, then save and download your creations in the universal text format.


        

            
An interactive fretboard to create your tabs


            
The tab creator is built around a 21-fret interactive guitar fretboard. Simply click on the fret of your choice to add a note to the tab. Each note is displayed in real time in the tab area in standard ASCII format, compatible with all text editors and tab sharing platforms. You can show or hide note names on the fretboard using the dedicated toggle.

Playing techniques: connectors

                
Add expressive playing techniques to your tabs using the connector buttons. Hammer-on (h) and pull-off (p) link two notes on the same string. Slide (/) moves up or down between two notes depending on their position. Bend (b) indicates a pitch rise on a single note. Bend & release (b/r) combines a rise and release across three notes. Activate the connector of your choice, then click on the two notes involved.

            


            

                
Chord mode: simultaneous notes

                
Multi mode allows you to play multiple notes simultaneously on different strings, like a chord or arpeggio. Activate Multi mode, select all the desired notes on the fretboard, then deactivate it to validate the chord. Connectors can also be used in Multi mode to create expressive techniques within a chord.

            


            

                
Structure: measures and spaces

                
Organize your tab with the Measure button, which inserts a bar line (|) to delimit your musical phrases. The space button (-) adds a rest or visual separation. The x2 measure button automatically duplicates the last complete measure, handy for repetitive riffs. The x2 button repeats the last addition (note or group of notes), ideal for rhythmic patterns.

            


            

                
Saving and managing tabs

                
Save your tabs with a custom name using the save button. Find all your saved tabs by clicking on the banner at the top of the page, then load them with one click to resume your work. Delete tabs you no longer need directly from the list. All your tabs are stored locally in your browser.

            


            

                
Export and new tab

                
Download your tab as a .txt file using the download button, to share or print it. The Undo button lets you go back to the previous state in case of an error. The New Tab button starts from a blank page while keeping your existing saves.
